Ez jó, pont azt tippelted amit én is akartam, úgyhogy a 2-1-et hagyom de a góllövőket cserélem, legyen valami izgi is (Burr,, CoHo)

After eliminating a team in the playoff, the first match next season against it is always a war. But it wasn't, we had a great, entertaining game with the Sharks, where only Schneider was the difference. There was a fight between Volpatti and Winchester but they rematched because of the pre-season not a post-season revenge. I can imagine if Marleau's breakaway in the first minute had found the net, they would have executed us, but Cory made it and they couldn't boost up. When Niemi got MM's fluke goal (congrat for the 800th match in the league), I was thinking Boucher's historical SO record as a Coyote, and prayed that the goal which will end Schneider's streak don't be so foolish. Fortunately, it wasn't, Murray had a great goal. In the second, both team played extremely well, but we could find the way to score, they didn't and after the intermission we tried to keep the difference which we have reached (more or less). I think our second line was the best, Booth had very nice moves and hit the crossbar, Higgins was very dangerous in front of the net and Kes started to find his last year's solidity. All in all, it was a typical one-goal game, now we had the one more, but this San Jose is undisputedly the strongest in the Pacific. In three goals nine players had a point, and we were perfect in powerplay. (When the Sharks' fans swang their hands like a mouth of a shark this vid came to my mind)

And the comment of the game: twin brothers from the same mother. wtf? :D

Now, we are at the one fourth of the regular, so I'll sum up the team one by one but firstly here are some thoughts around the entire team.

It is well-known that we are one of the slowest teams in the league at the beginning of the season and this pre-conception won't change in the near future seeing our October. We had a terrible start which cannot be explained by Kesler's absence, we were blanked three times in seven games and won only four games in regular from the first 11 with a disgusting 3.00 goals against average. We made a lot of scoring chances but we were unable to finish them and our guys lost their confidence very fast. Salo and Edler were brilliant and MadMax warmed the ice, the Sedin twins had a solid performance too but I cannot raise up any lines who could work consistantly, so I wasn't surprised that AV tried a lot of formations and almost all possible D-pairings. And don't waste a word for Luongo, he had his worst start in his career for sure. But if I'm not mistaken all hoary fans counted it in the season. Only after we were beaten by the Blues, I've lost my mind and started worrying a bit which was unfounded. If somebody has a look at the schedule, he can see that we played the least game at home in the western conference, had 14 of 23 away and according to today's standings 61% of our opponents will earn a playoff spot and we beat nearly all (7of 9) of non-playoff teams. So we had a very hard season-opening schedule and our near future is so bright, because we are only 4 points behind the Conference-leader Blackhawks and our next eight games will be against teams all under the line. In this calendar year, we will have 16 games with only four solid teams (Toronto, Minnesota, Detroit and San Jose) so it is not a crazy idea that we are going to celebrate the New year's Eve on the top of the league which will due to happen.

Last time I tallied my opinion about East-West games, but the Ottawa-Toronto-Montreal trio is different from the others, because they are Canadien derbies. Oh yes, Winnipeg too, I was so happy that we have an other team in the league. I've been waiting for the battle on 8th of March so much. Against the Sens it was an ugly win, with two great performances, Cody and Cory. Schneider was absolutaley the first star in this game, he showed strong confidence with great puck-handling and perfect gloving. I think he was solid against Chicago too, but on this day he brought the two points to the team. CoHo was the second star for me, he didn't earn any points but he played very dangerously in his every shift, had three shots, hand-eyed passes, aggressive chases, so I'm so satisfied with him. Which I can't tell about Manny. I believe now, that the team would be better without him. If he isn't able to change, when MayRay is ready, MM will be scratched. I hope he can boost up, because we need the good-old Malhotra into the lines. I didn't missed Ballard in the defence, Alberts and Rome play very solidly, Andrew is fearless and a tipycal stay-at-home D, in turn Aaron is offensive enough to work well together. But to tell the truth, the Senators played a little better on this game. The first period was a draw, but they were better in the second. In the first one-third of the third period we did a great pressure, but after taht long shift of the Sedins, Ottawa clearly overplayed us. We were lucky that Schneids raved about victory. The Avs is down now, it should be an easy win, but Colorado vs Vancouver is always an overheated battle.

It was a kind of celebrations' day and the Avalanche assisted for that in a very friendly way. In the first 10 minutes we were a bit sleepy, had some icings but after that we played quite well. Above, I was writing about Malhotra's role in the team, and what a wonder, against the Avs he played absolutaley different from the previous 20 games' performances. He has celebrated his first goal of the season which was a game winner too but he has to be grateful to CoHo who did a teeny miracle on the ice. After leading, we played very patiently which was evolved by Schneider's confidence. He made some big saves, covered the puck when it needed, kept in play by his stick peremptorily which surprised me a bit, because mostly European goalies have this brave stick-handling style. He deserved his 2nd career SO but I think the Avalanche was able to make scoring chances only if they were in powerplay. Kesler's empty net goal was heart-warming on his 500th NHL game all within the Canucks and with this win Vigneault became the winningest coach in our franchise's history with 247 (Crawford needed 98 more games to reach 246). The two funny points of the game were Burrows and special teams. Burr can't pick up a single point at home but now he has got 10 away. And the two organizations started the night with the first and second-ranked PP% in the NHL but they combined 0 for7.

I haven't seen a Yotes game in this season but it is not hard to express that they possibly had the worst match of the year against us yesterday. I had seen some hockey games without penalties, some scoreless games too but I can't remember for a game when a team cannot make a scoring chance in 60 minutes since Bulgaria's national women team lost to Slovakia 82-0 three years ago. They (Coyotes) had a disgusting game, but I'm not too sad about it. Cody was tested once in the first and twice in the third, I hope that he didn't catch a cold on the ice, With this back-to-back SO Luongo can be worried a bit, but I'm sure that he cheered by soul because of his backup's success. So we ruled the game, Schneider's patience sticked over the others spectacularly, Bieksa's positioning, CoHo's ehthusiasm, the willing of the Kesler's line, Lapierre's fantastic spin-o-rama backhander were all fascinating. And Hank's post was priceless, if he had wanted to miss it, he wouldn't have been able to. Now, we are on top, I only wish a shorthanded goal, we should have scored minimum three or four in the season. I have been waiting for the Sharks, I'm so curious that Cory can continue his streak or not.

I'm so furious, not because of the loss in Anaheim but the way we lost that game. Firstly, Rome's hit was absolutaley a penalty but seriously it wasn't a major, I don't understand the officials decision, and it was turning-point of the game. And the Ducks were extremely lucky to score twice at this big opportunity, we killed that 5 minutes so well, but two unfortunate situations were enough to trail by three. In the third we played one of the best periods of the year, everybody could see the frightened eyes of the Ducks's players, they skated the ice with the fear of losing and we nearly took this advantage. Our fans are the greatest in the league, when they screamed "Go Canucks Go" out their lungs was awesome, and was unanswered from the home-supporters. It was a great choice to change Burrows to Hansen next the Sedins, he deserved it with his two. Bieksa, Kes, CoHo, Salo, Volpatti and nearly the whole team can be listed, they fought hard, the ice was melted down, I felt we are on a 20 minutes powerplay. I'm proud of the team's competitiveness, with this energy we are going to fly to the top of the league. I turned of the match more than an hour ago, but I'm still shaking by angriness and my heart is beating so fast, that is what I need from that team. I love this team, and believe in blue. Woah. Next time, we will execute Anaheim, I promise.

Isles. It was easy as pie. Moreover, I was a bit bored. That is why I don't like East-West games so much, because these are hardly ever good games. We meet each other once or twice in a season, there is no rivalry (except the Stanley Cup finalists) the fans sit in silence during the game. For us, to beat the Islanders was a piece of a cake, I felt it is an open-ice practise between the two teams. Our guys did exactly the same amount as this game needed. We weren't sharp, scored some goals, saved ourselves from injuries, had no penalties. Hansen and Rome played well, but it was only Luongo who can be said that he had a big game. We have to boost ourselves before Chicago. Last time, we had a glorious victory, I think they will have a ripost and beat us in a tight game.

Despite of the final result it was a very tight game and I must express that this Chicago is not as dangerous as in the previous years. I know that in sports there aren't any if-s, but except the goals we overplayed them in the first 50 minutes. We missed a lot of opportunities to tie the game after trailing 1-2. I can't remember now exactly, but there were three or four open nets (Weise's and Daniel's scoring chance were definitely must-scores) but Crawford was so lucky taht times. We didn't play a single second in powerplay, but there were some minutes when fans could feel that we had one more player on the ice, because we stayed in their zone for long minutes. I think after the third goal (which was magnificent and humiliating altogether) we gave up a little bit. All in all, 5-1 is not as bad as it shows. Late November and whole December will be ours, hold your ears to the ground, we will win 8 of the next 10 games.

After the Blues game, I started worrying a bit. As you could see earlier, I tried to find some positive aspects of every game even if it was a blank. I don't pay much attention for losses, in the regular with 60 more games but it's a matter of fact that we play badly. AV had to make some changes during the game, Sedins with Hansen, Coho-Kes-Higger, Burr-MadMax-Booth, CoHo-MadMax-Higgins, Burrows-Kesler-Booth were all on the ice in the second period, but none of them worked properly. We are playing as it is pre-season, no speed, no chemistry, no passion. And the last one is the most significant problem now. I hope that it is just a downturn but this kind of hecticness wasn't our feature just like fights in every single game which shows our grim and bitterness. Wake up boys. To find the way, we would need the followings at the road trip: Booth scores the first as a Canuck, Burrows and Daniel score a couple of goals, Salo comes back to the line-up, Ballard makes a point, Bieksa is in the three stars in a match and win at least 2 of the 3 games.

The first (and for every Canuck the most important) is in the pocket. It was an excellent game, which can help us to find the right way. I've already known that it will be a huge game for us after those so emotional national anthems. We have shown our strengths. We were calm enough (only one giveaway), energetic enough (lot of breakaways), sober enough (Hank's snow showering and the followings) to mortify the most hatred Chicago. Nothing could put ours off, we played our game and didn't care about the circumstances. Neither Luongo. He had a ridiculous mistake again but stayed self-confident, and had a lot of tremendous saves without any shakiness by the booer fans. The powerplay units (principaly the Sedins-Kesler trio) did their job perfectly, the Hawks had cold feet on these minutes, so everything was more than all right. Only MadMax's misconduct was a pity, if I were AV I wouldn't have had him played in the third, and Volpatti has some unnecessary fights recently, I wouldn't mind a bit harder discipline around the team. But I loved Bieksa's pre-talked fight and Rome's bomb (it was like Abdelkader's first NHL goal against us with Sweatt's last year's beauty) if Salo comes back to the blueline I would bench Bieksa or Ballard for one or two games to fight for their roles because Alberts and Aaron are now overplaying them.

Two matches can be enough to steady down and forget everything you had said before. I started this note with my worries but now when I'm ending it I don't feel any problems. I'm a typical fan, after a win raise your team up to heaven then a loss and send them to hell. I would like to change myself and be like a chess player to look three, four or even ten steps ahead but I cannot. Maybe one or two. It was a very entertaining game against LA, we played very good hockey, we dominated most of the game, but I'm not sure that I would have said the same if we hadn't had 2 minutes 5on3, a tons of luck and a previous year's Luongo performance. If bad things happen, it is a 1-6 game which I can hardly ever imagine to enjoy so much. But good things happened so I'm happy. We have the league best powerplay unit with the three twins (Edler's moves are similar to the Sedins'), with Rome on the blueline three heavy shooters from the back, from now officially the best hip-checker of the league and I could continue the list but you know, if we lose in Disneyland we will be the worst team has ever skated in North-America. But I only demand to be over the line til the end of November.

Úgy olvasom vissza ahogy nézem a meccseket :)

It was a typical non-conference game with low importance, Caps had three injured reserve top-six Ds (Erskine, Poti, Green), both teams have four dangerous, scorable lines, so a lot of goals were guaranteed. We haven't played extremely well, but at least we did our work very efficiently (which we couldn't in the last few games). I am so happy that MadMax and Higger scored twice, they deserved it so much, for me Lapierre is the star of October in our team. He is so consistent, I cannot mention any bad games of him but it can be said about the whole fourth line, with Weise and Volpatti they are having a great chemistry now. It wasn't accidental from AV that after the third Washington goal he gave them the next shift. Brave but totally understandable in our situation, Sedins' line isn't hard enough, Kesler's needs time to join Booth and Higgins on the wings, and Malhotra's not a possibility now to preserve it. 7-4 is not the reality, it was only an amusing game without huge interest from the teams, they enjoyed playing offensive hockey and that's all. Vigneault reached his 350th win and thank God, it's November. A six-game road trip with 3-2-1 including a Chicago beat would be acceptable.

My oh my. This team is starting to look like a Presidents' Trophy winner. Fortunately this game became boring to the third period, we clearly outplayed the Flames which can be very important in division rivalry to show no one has a chance to win the Nortwest. The only dissatisfaction was the final minute of the game, when Weise lost his mind and accepted the fight and Luongo's SO was broken, he definitely would have deserved it on this game. MadMax' move before CoHo's goal was awesome just like Hansen's pass in Higgins' game winner and Edler is an extraterrestrial (6 points in last 2 games). It was a bit funny to see Volpatti in our second powerplay unit, but why not if the opponent allows to try everybody in special teams. This Calgary will possibly have the fewest goals in the league if they follow this unconceptioned hockey which I would regret so much because NHL needs all Canadian team in the playoff, the Cup will have to be brought home.

Against Minny we were the Flames. It's not a big risk to say, it was the biggest bust of the year from our guys. Bieksa said "I think everyone's surprised. This has got to be one of the worst performances I've been a part of in this jersey,". Agree in all. We had some terrible mistakes, everybody seemed tired and unimaginative, from Hodgson's goal to the second period's PP we had only 4 shots in nearly half a game. Malhotra had -4, Hansen had -3, Bieksa and Ballard did mistakes like a rookie in a junior league, Kes, Burr and the Sedins couldn't put the puck home even if it was an open net. Minnesota definitely outplayed us, takeaways were 8-1, blocks were 16-7 and hits were 25-17, Volpatti lost his fight etc. Only Schneider's performance was outstanding and Clutterbuck's punch on the referee made me smile. And the excellent PK, we killed 30 of last 31, pretty good but hope to forget this game very quickly, and beat the Blues to 3-2 next.

Mindjárt nálam is november lesz :)

When I've heard about the Booth' trade I couldn't believe it. The Panthers did it again. They are now officially the dump of the leauge where you can drop your garbage and got some recyclable materials. It's hard to wave goodbye for Samy but in this whole summer I've begged for a suitable player into our second line. I voted for Laich, Fleishman or Booth. And now, here it is, good luck Samy, and thanks for all you have done. Thumbs up. The Booth-Kesler-Higgins trio looks very dangerous, all are able to score, pass, hit, are useful in special teams and can win a match alone. Fans a bit overdo the comparison with the West Coast Express but this American Express sounds well, apparently. They should score 70+ goals in regular imo. Reinprecht is not considerable, he can help for our prospects in the Wolves, and the third round pick is just the whip on the cake. Gillis, you are a wizard.

In my last post I forgot three minor things, I wanted to say. I'm not too satisfied with Hodgson's performance, he needs more speed and grit. He is a top-six forward with Kesler on his side, there is no pressure from the staff even so he doesn't make a lot of scoring chance for himself. Some good moments are not enough from our future star. Have some lessons from Seguin CoHo. The positive side is Salo and Edler. In this herky-jerky October they have outstanding goings. Hard shots of Salo, and Edler's amazing moves (and Ballard's hip-checks) always make me smile. We have a tremendously strong D pairs, I have no real explication, why we got such a lot of goals. Persistent bad luck? Maybe.

Or we have to face tremendous performances by the opponents' goalies day after day. It's a bit annoying to recognize that they seem like "beat the reign Cup winner". It could be an honour, but I'm fed up with that a bit, I would see some easy wins not win-or-die games. However, if all of the rest are on the same speed as the first period against the Oils, I won't say a single word. The intense and pulse of that amazed me so much, and I've enjoyed every second of it. Contrary to the first 5 minutes of the second. Three goals allowed from 4 shots with Hamhuis's big mistake...it's very rare but I was with Luongo in his anger. After that, we dominated the match (as usual) but pushing is not enough without belief in victory. Countless shots and chances opposed with the lack of feeling unbeatable naturally cause losses. Now, we are near the end of the typical slow October, I hope that AV can shake the guys up.

That Blues match was awful. Our team scored the most goals last season and now we were blanked three times in ten games. What the hell. Against the Wings and the Rangers, we played quite weel, but this time we had no chance to win. They wanted the two points more than us. Their goalie was great but it wasn't the difference because Cory was solid too. We seemed tired slow, and bored without a leader. They had. Steein is now an official Canuck killer. And we allowed the first goal of the match 8 of 10. It's ridiculous that our 4th line is the best and most dangerous from all. But I like Weise more and more, to say any positiveness. With this the Craps execute us...

Nekiestem :)

Sorry for not writing so long, but my class had its school-levaers ball and I was the main organizer and I had no any time for watching Nucks matches, so if I'm not mistaken a dozen matches were being played during this 3-week period. I heard some pieces of information, I know that we are on .500, had a very interesting trade, Luongo is under 90% but I don't know the results, how we played, so I downloaded all of our matches and I try to catch the calendar up. It will be very funny to write about matches you saw nearly a month ago.

After the road trip we had three matches at home in a row, against Rag$, Preds and the Wild. Because Kesler's comeback, I predicted 5 points from us. The debut was against Rangers, the first home game since the season opener. Ryp's ceremony to honour him was touching, I still haven't believed his suicide, I loved his youthful enthusiasm and heart, the league should have to pay more attention for grinders, these kind of unsung heroes, they fight for regard every day. At the pre-game show, I misssed so much Mark Donnelly, I appreciate Jeevyn Dhaliwal, but I would like to hear the fans singing the second stanza of Oh Canada.
It's so controversial to say we had a nearly perfect game in a blank. But that's the truth. We clearly outplayed NY in the first 50 minutes, had numerous chances, hard shots, and they had nothing, except Lundqvist. He was impregnable likewise in January. We did what we had to do, passed when we had to pass, shot from the blue when we had to shoot from the blue etc.. Our centers did a great job at faceoffs (Richards - whose lovely sister, is a teacher in Vancouver - won 4 from 14, awesome work), we forced to penalize themselves in the offensive zone, but we cannot beat the King. After Rupp's goal, I was sure we won't score, after McDonagh's, the team agreed. I don't mind, Kes is healthy, I'm satisfied with our D's (Ballard had his best match in our jersey, Salo and Edler are cruel, Alberts plays very usefully) and I enjoyed the 4th line too. Only Hamhuis and Hansen were invisible. We couldn"t beat a 7th rounder goalie, can we beat an 8th? Let see.

I don't want to waste a lot of time for the Preds match. The better team won. We outplayed them in all segments of the game. In my opinion we did the same as against Rags the only difference was the number of goals. After Daniel's cheeky goal, everybody eased that we are able to score and they made a convincing victory. If Burrows had been a bit calmer, Edler and Sturm had been a wee luck, we would have scored twice as many. Our powerplays were extremely dangerous (in the second period's 5on3 was extraordinaire), Hansen, Ballard and Weise were good enough to get some confidence they needed, Luongo too but for goodness' sake, learn to freeze the puck, the Halischuk goal was embarassing. Otherwise, this Nashville is very creditable with its homegrowns. There were 15 players in the line-up, they had been drafted before and played nearly 1000 matches with only one coach. They are a kind of North-American Athletic Bilbao with Alex Ferguson on the bench. But it's not enough to have a chance against us.

Who was the mad one, who cooked up matinee games? The first period against the Wild was a complete dull. I felt watching an open ice practise, skating was slow, shots were easy to save, fans nibbled their early lunch, it was everything except a hockey game. The only good moments were Mike Vernon between the rows and see a short video about Raymond's recovery. After the slumping 20 minutes the team woke up from the nap and played some good hockey. I was so happy to see Hansen scored his first of the season, I think he played a lot better than his stats shows. MadMax either, I love the way he flusters the opponents with a f*cking big smile on his face. It's absolutaley priceless. And Schneider got a red point too, now he is lot more self-confident than Luongo, I can imagine that he (Lou) is frustrated inside and feels a bit uncomfortable. Good luck Lou, you won't have more than 50 matches this year. Kes is the same as last season, he is our shining star, maybe Datsyuk can be compared with him as a similarly complete player in the league. He is a treasure for us. And the most underrated player of the NHL (Burr obviously) will have to find his scoring stick, in these matches he should have scored 3+ goals. 4 points instead of 5, acceptable.

Just how long has it been since the Rangers won in Vancouver? Flannel has gone from fashionable to unfashionable and back to fashionable again.
