Florida forward Tomas Kopecky did not participate in the Panthers' morning skate. Panthers coach Peter Horachek said he expects Kopecky to return by Friday, but he could return Tuesday. Forward Jesse Winchester will return to the lineup in Kopecky's absence after missing 14 games with a broken hand.
"I think it's time. I think [Winchester] going back in the lineup will be good for us," Horachek said. "I think he's a pro. He works hard and he does the right things. So, we're anxious to get him back in there."
Goalie Tim Thomas is ill and Scott Clemmensen will start for Florida, Horachek said.

Florida's league-worst power play continues to shoot blanks. The Panthers went 0-for-3 on Thursday and has now gone scoreless on their past 27 tries.
The Panthers haven't scored a power play goal since Dec. 27 against the Red Wings.

Florida Panthers Executive VP & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has acquired C Ryan Martindale from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for C Steve Pinizzotto.
Martindale, 22, has played in 22 games for the Oklahoma City Barons this season, posting 10 points (3-7-10) and 8 PIM. The Oshawa, Ont native has played in 79 games over three professional seasons in the AHL, all with Oklahoma City, recording 26 points (9-17-26) and 22 PIM. He has also played in 39 games with Stockton of the ECHL, posting 17 points (8-9-17) over that span.
The 6-foot-3, 207-lb center was drafted in the third round (61st overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Martindale recorded 207 points (85-122-207) in 243 games over four seasons with Ottawa of the Ontario Hockey League.

The Panthers will announce that the 2015 NHL Draft is coming to Sunrise on Tuesday morning a source within the organization said.
This will be the second draft held at the BB&T Center. The Panthers previously hosted the draft in 2001 and selected Stephen Weiss with the fourth overall pick.

Defenseman Dmitry Kulikov broke his capped front teeth after taking a stick to the face Thursday in Buffalo. Kulikov, at least temporarily, has two jagged nubs where his teeth used to be.
"I spit them into my glove,'' Kulikov said. "Not fun.''

If Erik Gudrbranson doesn't play Tuesday after suffering a lower body laceration during Sunday's game, Mike Mottau would likely step in. Mottau, 35, has been scratched for the past six games and in nine of the past 10.
"Being in the position I'm in, this is more mental than physical,'' said Mottau, who has played in 320 NHL games. "I'm getting my work in during practice. Not being in the game makes you simplify things when you do.''

The Panthers could have Thomas back Sunday, but may be without defenseman Erik Gudbranson if he's suspended after receiving a match penalty for his high elbow on Eric Fehr in the second. Fehr hit the deck after Gudbranson launched into him; Gudbranson got five minutes for his subsequent fight with Troy Brouwer and ejected for aiming for Fehr's head.

Thomas, who has started 15 of the Panthers' past 16 games, was injured during practice Thursday. It's the third time this season Thomas has been injured.
