FLORIDA HALL OF FAMERS
The Panthers will have two more former players inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto on Monday as Joe Nieuwendyk and Ed Belfour will join Doug Gilmour and Mark Howe as the Hall's Class of 2012.
Nieuwendyk, now the general manager of the Dallas Stars, signed with the Panthers soon after the lockout in 2005 but retired early in the 2006-07 season before briefly joining the Florida front office. Belfour also spent his final NHL season with the Panthers, playing here in 2006-07.
Other players in the hall who have played for the Panthers include Dino Ciccarelli (1998-99), Igor Larionov (2000), coach Roger Nielson (1993-95) and builder Bill Torrey (1993-present).
Weiss moved into a tie for second place for games played with the Panthers. Weiss will pass Robert Svehla on Tuesday at Dallas as both are tied with 573 games. Radek Dvorak set the record with 613 last season.

The defensive unit, lead by All-Star Brian Campbell and Jason Garrison's 6 goals, leads the NHL in points, and Campbell leads the league in assists. This unit added 10 more points on this short trip and is providing offensive punch even diehard Panther fans could not have predicted.
Campbell also leads the top-5 power play unit that is so improved from last year it really puts in perspective how weak this club was in the 2010-2011 season.
The masses can get off goaltender Jose Theodore's back as well, who is coming off two solid games where he stopped 63 of 66 shots and continues to be everything this team needs while the offense continues to improve.

It's hard to find anything but strengths with the Panthers group currently. They have elite talents with players like Erik Gudbranson and Jacob Markstrom, an incredible second-tier talent with the likes of Nick Bjugstad, Colby Robak, and Michael Repik, and depth at every position. A.J. Jenks and Drew Shore are also promising talents who should be able to contribute at the NHL level in several years. The Panthers prospect pool boasts quality, diversity, depth, and is oozing with talent. Weaknesses: It is hard to find any real weaknesses. There is a lack of elite scoring talent. Injured winger Mikael Samuelsson didn't travel with the Panthers to Canada this week as he continues his rehabilitation after having complications from a sports hernia surgery he underwent last May.
Samuelsson came to the Panthers in the David Booth trade on Oct. 22 but has yet to play. Samuelsson skated for the first time since joining the Panthers on Tuesday in Coral Springs.

Panthers Goalie Decision to Come: Jacob Markstrom Almost Certainly Headed to San Antonio
Scott Clemmensen is expected to be recalled from the Panthers minor league affiliate in San Antonio on Monday after giving up just one late goal off 33 shots in a 6-1 victory over the Toronto Marlies on Saturday night.
Clemmensen wanted to play in the Rampage's game Sunday as well but was told by the Panthers head athletic trainer not to.
With Clemmensen coming back, rookie Jacob Markstrom is expected to be sent to the minors – despite his success on the NHL level this season.
Markstrom is in the second year of his entry level contract and can be sent to the minors without having to pass through waivers; Clemmensen is being paid his NHL contract ($1.5 million) in the minors.
Florida could carry three goalies but will not do so.
Clemmensen was vying for the starting job before having knee surgery during training camp. Clemmensen appeared in one preseason game before getting hurt; Saturday's appearance in San Antonio was his first game experience since surgery. He'll start back by backing up Theodore.
“I liked my goaltender [Sunday], I thought he did a good job,'' coach Kevin Dineen said. “[Theodore] is our starter and has done a good job.''

Winger Tomas Kopecky left Monday’s game after taking a hit to the knee by Winnipeg’s Zach Bogosian at the end of overtime. Kopecky missed Tuesday’s practice and could miss Thursday’s reunion game against the Blackhawks.

At the end of Thursday's morning skate, Dineen called the team into one corner of the ice and gathered them close. Rookie Erik Gudbranson, Dineen said, would be staying with the Panthers after his nine-game tryout was completed later that night.
Teammates celebrated by banging their sticks on the ice and taking turns giving the 19-year-old a hug. Wayne Gudbranson, Erik's father, watched from the stands. He was in tears and couldn't speak when offered congratulations.
“Definitely knowing I'm part of this team now and staying for the year is just awesome,'' said Erik, who hails from the Ottawa area.
Said Dineen: “I thought it was the right call to let him know, and let him know in front of his teammates. It's great news not only for Erik, but this is a reflection on his family. Nothing is given at this level; you have to earn it. And he has through the past eight games.''

Secondly, Mikael Samuelsson is not with the team as coach Kevin Dineen says he was given permission to stay behind in Vancouver as he is “nicked up.'' Dineen says it was more beneficial for him to stay in Vancouver and work with his personal trainer to get stronger.
“I wanted him to stay in Vancouver for a few days,'' Dineen said. “He has the opportunity to work with someone there that he feels will really strengthen his core for the season. I feel that's a priority, that he comes in feeling extremely good. Instead of throwing him in with new teammates, a new medical staff, I felt he should take care of his business in Vancouver and come here feeling good.''
