Florida Panthers forward Tomas Kopecky (picture above in Panthers garb) has left Dukla Trencin of Slovakia's Extraliga with an apparent shoulder injury. Kopecky sat out Sunday's game against HK Poprad but returned to action on Tuesday against SHK 37 Piestany. The seriousness of the injury is unknown at this point. Kopecky played four games for the Slovak club, scoring two goals while adding two assists and finishing with a +2 rating .

Versteeg, who is expected to get treatment from the Panthers during the lockout, said Thursday that he is still a few months away from being ready to play. Versteeg had hip surgery following Florida's exit from the postseason and he says doctors told him the recovery process would take four to six months.

The home of the Florida Panthers received a new name Monday, with the arena in Sunrise, Fla., now called the BB&T Center. The building had been known since 2005 as the BankAtlantic Center.

The Florida Panthers announced Monday that defenseman Erik Gudbranson had surgery to repair an injured shoulder last week.
According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the injury happened last week during an informal workout at the team's practice site, the Saveology.com Iceplex in Coral Springs, Fla.
Surgery was performed Sept. 6, but no recovery timetable was given by the Panthers except to say a full recovery was expected. The Sun Sentinel reported that the injury could sideline Gudbranson up to four months.
Gudbranson, 20, had two goals, six assists and a minus-19 rating in 72 games last season as a rookie. The third pick of the 2010 Draft averaged 14:11 of ice time per game in the regular season, but that number rose to 17:06 per game in the postseason. He was scoreless and a minus-2 in seven games in the first round against the New Jersey Devils.

If the Vancouver Canucks are going to trade Roberto Luongo, the world-class goaltender would like to return to the place where he became a star.
Luongo, who has been replaced as the No. 1 goaltender in Vancouver by Cory Schneider, told the Sun-Sentinel on Tuesday that he would prefer to be traded to the Florida Panthers. The 33-year-old maintains a residence in South Florida during the offseason and remains the Panthers' all-time leader in games played (317), victories (108) and shutouts (26).
"It's been a tough summer, not knowing what's going to happen," Luongo told the newspaper. "It's tough to not know what your future is going to be with your family and everything. There were a couple of stressful moments, but we're still here and everything's good.
"[The Panthers] makes sense for myself, for my career and my family. That being said, there's obvious other options as well. This is a preferred location for obvious reasons, but I'm not shutting the door on other possibilities if it comes up."
