Erik will not be remembered by Panther fans for goals and assists, it is not what he was positioned to do in the gameplan. He will likely be recalled fondly as a player always first to defend a teammate, to make Sunrise a difficult and intimidating place to play, and for quiet leadership.
Florida Panthers President of Hockey Operations Dale Tallon announced today that the Panthers have signed a multi-year affiliation agreement with Springfield Hockey, LLC of the American Hockey League to serve as the Panthers AHL affiliate.

Florida Panthers Executive Vice President and General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Panthers have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with forward Shane Harper.

It’s a privilege to practice and play with these guys every day and learn from them. As a hockey player, you want to be in an environment where you can learn and be creative and get better every day.”

The 6-foot-5, 216-pound native of Ottawa, Ontario has played in 309 NHL games all with Florida, recording 43 points (11-32-43) and 346 penalty minutes.
“I’m very excited for another year with the Panthers,” Gudbranson said. “We took great strides last season as a team and our group can only improve upon the success we had. It’s a great time for the organization and I look forward to getting back on the ice with the team.”
The Florida Panthers front office is getting a bit of a shakeup.
Tom Rowe, brought in as the team’s associate general manager in late December, will be Florida’s new general manager.
Dale Tallon, Florida’s GM since 2010 who signed a three-year contract extension through 2019, will remain with the organization atop the hockey operations department.
Eric Joyce, a West Point and Harvard grad who served as GM of Florida’s AHL team last year, will be promoted to one of two assistant general manager positions.
Steve Werier, a lawyer who specializes in hockey analytics and has been with the organization since December 2013, will be the other.

The 23-year old Hultström recorded 31 points (12-19-31) and a plus-17 rating in 52 games this season with the Djurgardens IF of the Swedish Hockey League. Hultström tied for first in points (31) in the SHL among defensemen. He recorded 12 points (3-9-12) in eight games for Djurgardens IF during the 2016 playoffs.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound native of Vimmerby, Sweden recorded 66 points (23-43-66) in 136 SHL games for Linkoping HC, Leksands IF and Djurgardens IF.
It is likely Hultström will need some time with the Portland Pirates in the AHL to hone the defensive side of his game and get acclimated to the North American style of play.

The Panthers are not expecting Willie Mitchell back next season, and a close friend thinks his career will be over due to concussions. GM Dale Tallon said he’ll sit down and talk with Mitchell about his future.
The 44-year old Jaromir Jagr led the Panthers in scoring with 66 points this past season. Jagr hopes to be back with the Panthers next year.

Bring Jaromir Jagr back – Despite not scoring in the playoffs (he hasn’t scored in his last 37 playoff games), he’s a valuable piece to the franchise. He’s a role model for the young players.
Sign Vincent Trocheck to a long-term contract – He’s shown he can be a No. 2 center for them after putting up 53 points in 76 games this year. That would give the Panthers their three young centers under contract long-term. Tallon could then look at signing Aaron Ekblad to a contract extension.
Sign Andrew Ladd – Tallon tried to improve the Panthers on the wing by adding Teddy Purcell and Jiri Hudler at the deadline. Wouldn’t be smart to give him six-years and $36 million that he turned down from the Jets, but if they could sign him to a deal closer to what the Capitals signed Justin Williams to last offseason (two-years, $6.5 million), they should do it.
Jaromir Jagr talked to media and, besides confirming that the Jagr mullet is here to stay, he again indicated that he liked playing for the Panthers and is likely to return. He had confirmed after the Game 6 loss to the Isles that he intended to play next season, when he will be 45.
