Florida coach Peter Horachek said he didn't have an update on Aleksander Barkov's apparent injury following Thursday's 5-2 win over visiting Winnipeg.
Barkov, the second overall pick of the 2013 draft, left the game with a lower-body injury with 12:15 left.

"Young players go through times where it feels like the world is crashing in on you,'' Jovanovski said. "When nothing seems to be working. I told [Kulikov] to have a good practice, make tape-to-tape passes and work hard. Sometimes skill isn't enough. It's not going to come to you, you've got to work your way out if it.
"The biggest lesson is less is more. A young defenseman has the tendency to do a little bit extra and it backfires. Get the puck moving, make your first pass, get it out of the zone and let someone else worry about what happens next.
"He'll come out of it. He's too good a player.''
"He's one of our most skilled defensemen out there,'' Horachek said. "He has all the tools. Right now, it's definitely mental. I think it's bothering him. He has to learn how to let it go and move back into a good place. He's fighting it a little bit and he's going to find his way.''

Horachek also said that Tomas Kopecky and Matt Gilroy were getting closer to being in the lineup but they wouldn't play Tuesday against the Sens.
Tim Thomas is back between the pipes. This is Thomas' 12th straight start for the Panthers.
Struggling defenseman Dmitry Kulikov will find himself on the sidelines Tuesday as he will be a healthy scratch against the Senators.

The Panthers would like to continue improving their blueline with the addition of captain Ed Jovanovski although that probably isn't forthcoming. Jovanovski continues to workout with the team, but his return from major hip surgery at 37 is a slow process.
Neither the Panthers nor Jovanovski are pushing things.
"I'm still in the frame of mind that I'm getting stronger, more comfortable in making that next step,'' Jovanovski said Tuesday. "There's still no date. I think at this point, a lot of it comes down to you being your own doctor of sorts. I'm taking the information from doctors and I know I don't feel quite ready.''

The Panthers recalled defenseman Dylan Olsen from San Antonio and put Mike Weaver on the injured list.
Weaver said he had been hit with the flu before Florida's win in Colorado and missed the final four games of the trip.

When Florida Panthers coach Peter Horachek informed his players during the team's morning skate Tuesday that the franchise had never won a game at Rogers Arena, goaltender Tim Thomas quickly piped up.
"I have," Thomas said, setting off laughter.
Thomas, who won the Stanley Cup the last time he played in Vancouver, in the 2011 Cup Final, made sure he's no longer the only Florida player who can make that claim.

Tom Gilbert, who tied a career-high with three assists, received the red Randy 'Macho Man' Savage cowboy hat following Florida's 4-1 win over the host Avalanche.
Where the hat was purchased -- and who found it -- is being held as a secret for now.

Versteeg indicated that defenseman Brian Campbell may like to join him in heading back to Chicago, but Campbell said he never said anything to Versteeg about wanting to go back Chicago.

Veteran defenseman Mike Mottau played in his first NHL game since the end of the 2011-12 season on Tuesday after being recalled from Florida's AHL affiliate in San Antonio.
Mottau played in place of Matt Gilroy on Tuesday. Ryan Whitney cleared waivers over the weekend and was sent to San Antonio after Sunday's game in New York.

The Panthers solved their goalie glut by sending Jacob Markstrom to Florida's AHL affiliate in San Antonio. Markstrom has played 55 games over the past two seasons with the Rampage but none since being recalled last March.
"He has to play and he'll go down there and do that,'' GM Dale Tallon said. "He needs to get some confidence.''
