Szerintem utóbbit kár lenne elküldeni, jól betud segíteni a védekezésben, márpedig ebben a csapatban szükség is lesz rá.

Lightning VP of Hockey Operations Brian Lawton that suggest the tweaks to the defense may not yet be complete. Judging by some of the commentary recently, I'm sure many of you are very happy to read as much. Though I'd been hearing otherwise recently - since the erroneous Jason Smith report, or somewhere thereabouts - I still maintain that they could sure use another veteran rearguard. So count me among those that are cautiously optimistic after today's comments from Lawton. Let's break it down a bit ...
The top eight defensemen on this club, by most accounts, as we head rapidly towards training camp are (in no particular order) Matt Carle, Paul Ranger, Shane O'Brien, Alex Picard, Janne Niskala, Filip Kuba, Andrew Hutchinson and Mike Lundin. Most clubs carry 22 or 23 players on their active roster. I believe the max is 23 healthy bodies at any give time so, for argument's sake, let's say the Lightning break camp with 22 on the NHL roster. Generally speaking, a club will carry an extra forward and an extra defenseman. That means two of these gentlemen that I've just listed will find themselves out of the top six and one, more than likely, will make his way to the minors (or elsewhere) come "opening night" in Prague.

Na ez meg pláne bosszantó. Jó lenne vele vmi hosszútávú és olcsó megállapodást kötni. Hasonlót, mint a Kings Kopitarral. |

Remember when Lightning owner Len Barrie predicted Tampa Bay would win the Southeast? Well, Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau got wind of it, and at Washington's development camp, sarcastically conceded the division title to the Lightning.
Courtesy of the Washington Post's Capitals blog:
"We just hope to be in second place because Tampa says they're going win the division," Boudreau said. "So if we play good enough to get to second place, we'll be happy."

részlet az espn-ről:
"How's that for a new strategy in the NHL? No grinders or checkers, just four lines of pure offense? I doubt that is the game plan under new coach Barry Melrose, but you never know. At the end of the day, it is likely only the top six will have positive fantasy value, so watching line combinations will be priority No. 1 at Tampa Bay's training camp. What about the defense, though? Offensive catalyst Dan Boyle is off to San Jose, leaving a giant void at power-play quarterback. Matt Carle could prove the brass in San Jose wrong and recapture his 42-point 2006-07 form, but all the elements were in place for him to succeed last season and he didn't. Ty Wishart (also from the Boyle trade) is an top offensive defenseman prospect out of the Sharks system and also will get a chance. In this debate, however, I think I will side with the un-sexy but known commodities of Filip Kuba and Paul Ranger. I think they, as well as Carle, all post No. 4 defensemen numbers for fantasy, as no real dominant force emerges from the Lightning blue line."

Rotyi, a tippem : I.: d; II.: e

Other notes: Spoke to enforcer Andre Roy Tuesday and have never heard the big guy sound so down. In acknowledging the Lightning never contacted him about a new contract, he said, "It's pretty disappointing. I wanted to be part of it. I always thought Tampa was a good fit. I love the city and the fans."
