Lemaire did some serious teaching during practice today, raising his voice several times.
At one point he showed his players how they should get the puck out of their own end. Lemaire then demonstrated how they did it Sunday night, skating in circles like ice dancers.
"We don't have time for this (kind of play)," Lemaire yelled.
This is Lemaire's first full practice session with the team since he replaced John MacLean on Dec. 23.
Lemaire is making the players skate laps.

nincs. ilyenszintu szopas utan pont az a hsz nem kell, amit te irtal. az egy dolog, h (talan) igazad van, de ilyen 3 honap utan hadd legyen egy kis remenyunk.

This was a long time coming. When things are going this bad, the coach has to go. This is almost the same roster as last year, yet the team is undisciplined, does not play the whole 60 minutes and sloppy. Clearly MacLean had to go. Lemaire could salvage the season with structure, discipline and accountability.

Too little too late. Should have been fired a month ago. Now that the Devils are 18 points out of a playoff spot, what is the point! They need 70-75 points in 49 games just to make the playoffs (35-9-5)

amugy: It is unclear if Lemaire will be behind the bench tonight for the Devils when they face the Islanders, who also have just 20 points this season but with a better goal differential than the Devils, losers of three straight.

On Langs, I suspect he'll be traded before the New Year. A report out of Toronto last week stated a tentative deal was in place between the two clubs.

The New Jersey Devils have fired head coach John MacLean and replaced him with Jacques Lemaire, who will be behind the bench for tonight's game against the New York Islanders. The Devils are currently an NHL-worst 9-22-2
This will be the third time Lemaire has been head coach of the team.
Lemaire, who retired last April after the Devils were eliminated in first round of the playoffs, had since been working with the club as a special assignment coach.
The 65-year-old coached 16 seasons in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens, the Devils and the Minnesota Wild, posting a 588-441 record. His teams also played to 124 ties and lost 60 games in overtime or shootouts.
Lemaire won the Jack Adams Award as the league's top coach in 1994 and 2003, and he was an assistant on Canada's gold medal-winning team at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
Lemaire, who is in the Hockey Hall of Fame as a player, coached the Devils to the Stanley Cup in 1995.
