Chris Drury is not sure where he will fit into the lineup when he is able to return from a broken finger. "After last year when I was in more of a defensive role, I'd heard over the summer that [coach John Tortorella] would potentially give me a chance to be in more of an offensive position, but whether this has changed anything, that I don't know and haven't heard," he said. The Rangers don't have a clear situation mapped out for their centers heading into the season. Depending on how it all works out and how they do to start the year will likely impact where Drury is utilized upon his return. (New York Post)

The Frolov-Derek Stepan-Gaborik line accounted for four goals - a hat trick for Frolov and a goal for Stepan.
Marc Staal had a goal and an assist while Brandon Dubinsky had a goal for the Anisimov/Dubinsky team in the loss.

We need to let this play out. I know we’re over the cap, but a lot of different things can happen before the season starts. By no way are we singling Wade Redden out that ‘Oh, there’s cap problems? (Redden’s $6.5 million charge), go down to the minors!’ It could be other people going to Hartford. Wade gets beat up a little bit, and listen, he makes his own bed. 2010/09/14: Restricted free agent Marc Staal and the New York Rangers will probably reach an agreement before the start of training camp on Friday. The two sides have reportedly been making progress, but they still haven't agreed upon a contract. Staal is believed to be seeking a contract that would pay him about $4.5 million per season. Rangers to Invite Fedotenko to Camp? (Updated)
Updated, 10:06 p.m.:
Larry Brooks tweets that the Rangers have offered a tryout, however, Fedetonko has yet to accept.
...would love to see the beat writers get a quote from Slats on why they are interested in Fedotenko.
Updated, 5:16 p.m.:
Steve Zipay tweets that this could just be Fedotenko's agent leaking false information to drum up interest in his client.
...that makes more sense.

NHL writer Andy Strickland reports that the Rangers may be interested in UFA Ruslan Fedotenko...
"The NY Rangers have shown some interest in Ruslan Fedotenko and could invite the veteran player to camp on a tryout."
Fedetenko had 11g and 19a in 80 games with the Penguins last season.

2010/09/04: Wade Redden may be facing job security issues in New York. There has been speculation, beginning last season, that Redden may be sent to the AHL to erase a $6.5 million cap hit. Redden has looked good thus far so it may be difficult for the Rangers to part ways. (Source: NY Post)
