Wednesday afternoon the Rangers announced that the club has agreed to terms with undrafted free agent forward Ryan Haggerty, a Stamford, CT-native who has played the past three years in college at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association (ECAC). Haggerty will join the Rangers following their road trip this week. Since Haggerty signed an NHL deal starting with this season, he can not be assigned to the AHL because it is post-deadline.

The 6-foot, 200-pound Haggerty led R.P.I. in scoring this past season with a career-best 43 points in 35 games. Haggerty also led the team with 28 goals, 10 power play goals, and six game-winners--all career-high numbers for the 21-year-old. In three seasons at R.P.I. Haggerty appeared in 106 games, totaling 84 points including 47 goals.

Haggerty led the ECAC in goal scoring, and ranked third in the entire NCAA with his 28 goals this season. He was second in points in the ECAC and eighth in the nation in that category.
