“I think he handled it well. Very well,” Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. “I thought he provided us with a level of goaltending that gave us a chance to win. And that’s what you ask of your guy. The circumstance that he came in under was a pressure one. He showed resolve.”
Carlyle absolved Ellis a bit from the bad goal he allowed and said “I look at how he regrouped after. And he made some big stops after that.”
“To me, it happened,” Carlyle said of the goal. ”It’s unreal to watch what the puck actually did. The puck was along the ice and it skipped up. It hit the ice, boom, and came up and went six inches off the ice. And everybody in the building thought it was right along the ice. It wasn’t.”

– Corey Perry was struck on three different occasions by shots during different drills and Ryan Getzlaf was smarting after being hit on the side of the head by a deflected puck but the club said both players are fine.
