| MONTREAL — A small note to pass along as Ducks backup goalie Curtis McElhinney and his wife, Ashleigh, welcomed a baby girl to their family this weekend.
Jaxen Leigh McElhinney weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces at birth. It is the second child for the couple.
McElhinney left the team Friday night to be with his wife and the Ducks recalled goalie Timo Pielmeier from Syracuse (AHL) to serve as the backup to Jonas Hiller for the club’s game Saturday night against the Canadiens.
It is unclear when McElhinney will re-join the team, which finishes its four-game road trip Tuesday in Columbus. McElhinney is 3-4-1 with a 3.18 goals-against avergae and a .907 save percentage in 13 games this season.
