Nothing of significance has occurred between the Anaheim Ducks and sniper Corey Perry in terms of contract negotiations, but talks should pick up this month.
Perry, 27, is in the final year of his current contract and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent July 5.





Ducks GM Bob Murray said that signing Perry and fellow star Ryan Getzlaf is "a priority" for the organization, though negotiations haven't started.
Perry's agents are still set to meet with Murray in Anaheim, agent Mark Guy confirmed to TFP, though he would not get into details as to the matter of discussions.

In nine games with the Ducks so far this season, Perry hasn't flown out of the gate, registering just one goal and four assists for five points.

Getzlaf and the Ducks were reportedly close to a six-year extension prior to the lockout, and it's believed a deal between the two sides is on the horizon.

Perry, however, could be much more difficult for Anaheim to sign, which could result in the team trading him closer to the April 3 trade deadline or around the June 30 NHL Draft, if Murray feels he has no chance as signing him before the free agent market opens.

Perry and Getzlaf both signed five-year, $26.25 million contracts prior to the 2008-09 NHL season -- Getzlaf on Nov. 20, 2007 and Perry on July 1, 2008.
