Chris Pronger remains out of the lineup with a broken jaw suffered in Sunday’s game against Chicago. He underwent surgery on Monday and endured about 70 stitches to close the gash left by an unintentional high stick from Patrick Sharp. Although several teeth were chipped and loose, they remain in his mouth. Pronger still contributed, this time from behind the bench as an assistant coach in charge of the defense. Farrish felt it would be a great idea, although he did not feel that Pronger should handle the press afterwards. “I wanted to get him an idea of what it feels like to be back there. He’s certainly been around long enough. He’s like a coach on the ice anyway. He did a great job for us. I left him alone all night long. Everything he did was his decision.” As Scott Niedermayer pointed out, one advantage Pronger has as a coach is “he’s tall. He can see what’s going on.”
