According to Stats Inc., this is only the sixth time since the NHL expanded from six teams to 12 in 1967-68 that a team has undertaken a scheduling sequence that calls for as many as 12 road games in a 27-day period. The Kings have done it three times, in 1975-76, 1978-79 and 1981-82, while the San Jose Sharks faced the same challenge in 1998-99 and the Philadelphia Flyers in 2005-06. Only the Flyers, who blew through their test with a 9-2-1 mark, managed to finish with a record better than .500.
No NHL team has ever played more than 12 road games in 27 days. |
