Toward the end of Detroit coach Mike Babcock’s postgame press conference in Game 4, a reporter asked him why his team was so good under pressure when it mattered the most.

Babcock could have taken the opportunity to wax about his team’s poise, but his answer said that the series is perhaps just now unfolding as it heads to Detroit for Game 5.

“Well, let’s not get carried away,” Babcock said. “The team we’re playing is good when the pressure (is on). The reason they’re a championship team is that they know what it takes.”

“One of the best players in the world, in my opinion, when it’s on the line, is (Ducks defenseman) Scott Niedermayer. And when you have good players like … (Chris) Pronger, (Ryan) Getzlaf, they understand that that’s when the cream rises. We were fortunate to get a win here tonight but obviously there’s a lot of work to do in this series.”
