The Anaheim Ducks are looking to make a major splash before the March 2 trade deadline and would like to add a top-line left wing to their roster.
Ducks GM Bob Murray is already in the market for a top-four defenseman, but is also scouring the market in an attempt to locate a first-line winger.


The Ducks have expressed interest in Edmonton Oilers left wing Taylor Hall and Winnipeg Jets left wing Evander Kane, according to multiple league sources.
Anaheim's interest in Kane, however, is hindered due to the 23-year-old undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery on Saturday. While some interest remains, it appears unlikely the Ducks will remain in the mix unless Kane is still available in the off-season.

It's unclear how discussions with the Oilers have progressed, if at all, but Murray continues to weigh his options and explore the market.

The Ducks could find a short-term solution by acquiring a left winger in the final-year of his contract, as the club has also been linked to Buffalo Sabres veteran Drew Stafford and Arizona Coyotes forward Antoine Vermette.

Meanwhile, on the blueline, Ottawa Senators rearguard Marc Methot, Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Andrej Sekera, Arizona Coyotes veteran Zbynek Michalek and Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Cody Franson are believed to be on their radar.

Sabres defenseman Tyler Myers is also being seriously discussed, as Murray recently renewed discussions with Buffalo GM Tim Murray.

Dealing for Dion?
Should Toronto Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf return from his hand injury prior to the trade deadline, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reported Sunday there will be a market for him.
According to Garrioch, the Los Angeles Kings, Dallas Stars and Anaheim Ducks have all shown interest in the 29-year-old.
Phaneuf has not played since January 21 and was placed retroactively on injured reserve prior to Saturday’s win over the Edmonton Oilers.
