A few notes to pass along, courtesy of the Ducks …
–Besides this being the first all-California playoff series since 1969, it will be the first in-state postseason matchup in the NHL, NBA or Major League Baseball since 2002, when the Angels and San Francisco played in the World Series.
–The Ducks-Sharks series features two of the more successful teams in the NHL since the league resumed play after the 2004-05 lockout.
Since then, the Ducks are 180-107-41 with four playoff appearances, two 100-point seasons and a Stanley Cup.
The Sharks are 197-94-37 with three straight 100-plus point seasons, four playoff appearances and two Pacific Division titles.
–The Ducks are 41-41-8 all-time against San Jose, having gone 18-22-5 at Honda Center and 23-19-3 at HP Pavilion.
–No NHL team has won more playoff rounds (6) than the Ducks and Detroit since the 2005-06 season. |
